Jobs turmoil

I arrived home last night from work just in time for the news and was intrigued to see we are having a gab fest on how to get some more jobs happening in the state. In principle it’s a good idea and I hope some good ideas come from it.

I find it absolutely frustrating when one reflects on how we ended up with 21,000 people unemployed in this state and that it’s created an environment where the unelected minority can effectively call the shots and murder our hopes and dreams.

One only has to look at what has, and is, still happening to the timber industry and how it has been thrown to the wolves.

Earlier this week I heard of two more businesses closing their doors for the last time.

Both tried to hang on but couldn’t any longer.

On a brighter note, it’s heartening to see that the Tasmanian community has rallied in support of the mining industry.

I can only hope that the message might be getting through.

Congratulations Shree and Venture, thank you for hanging in there.
