Man held up Wollongong service station with screwdriver

Police are calling for help from the public after a man used a screwdriver to hold up a cashier at a Coles Express service station in Crown Street, West Wollongong.

About 9pm yesterday, a man wearing a scarf covering his face entered the service station and threatened a 38-year-old male cashier, demanding he give him cash.

The cashier complied, and the man fled the store on foot.

Police from Wollongong Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The cashier was not injured during the robbery.

The man is described as medium build, approximately 170cm tall and at the time was wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants, white joggers and a black cap.

Detectives would like to speak to any witnesses to the incident that maybe able to assist with their inquiries.
